Are you interested in working for the Government of Canada? 

The UVic Federal Government Student Ambassadors will be hosting an Exploring Career Paths in the Government of Canada virtual panel event on July 27th, 2022. Come meet Federal employees from various departments including: 
  • Parks Canada
  • Canada Border Services Agency
  • Department of National Defence
  • Environment and Climate Change Canada      
You will have the opportunity to make connections with Federal employees, gain new perspectives as you hear about their experiences, ask questions, and learn about opportunities for UVic Students.  

Meet the panelists: 

Angus Fedoruk: Lieutenant-Commander Angus Fedoruk is an Officer in the Canadian Navy. He has held Naval appointments as an instructor and manager of training, as an advisor on Naval personnel policy and organisation, implemented a lessons learned programme for the Canadian Navy, and has held senior leadership and command positions at in Navy ships. His current position is Director for Leadership, Conduct, and Culture Development at the Naval Training Development Centre (Paci­fic), in Esquimalt, B.C.
 
Ashley Everitt: Ashley has been with Parks Canada since the summer of 2015, originally joining the External Relations team as a promotion and outreach student for the Coastal BC Field Unit, working for Pacific Rim NPR, Fort Langley NHS, and Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse NHS. In 2020, she became an Interpretation Officer/Coordinator for Fort Rodd Hill, focusing on special events, outreach, and interpretive programing, with a special interest in climate change education. Ashley holds an Economics degree from UVIC, with a specializion in Environmental Economics. 
 
Kirby Delaney: After graduating from the University of Victoria with a BA in History, Kirby Delaney began her career in heritage at the Maritime Museum of BC in 2013, as an interpreter and researcher. She has worked a variety of roles in public service in the BC Provincial Government. Kirby continued her education with a Masters of Community Planning at VIU, focusing on parks and urban green spaces, including insect habitats.   She has worked as a guide, a policy researcher, community engagement, park and housing planner. In 2020 she returned to Parks Canada as Curator of Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse, where she now coordinates the Visitor Experience team, working with interpreters and educators to share the story of the site.  
 
Acacia Hooker: I am an Alumni of University of Victoria, with a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) specialized in Service Management, and I recently because a Candidate for the Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation. Since 2019 I have worked at Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), my current role is as an Strategic Human Resources Advisor; where I support building people-centric strategies that strengthen CBSA's workforce to ultimately deliver results for Canadians at our borders. In my first co-op with the Federal Government at the Department of National Defence I realized the value of being a public servant, and went on to promote similar opportunities to my peers as a Federal Government Student Ambassador, throughout my final year at UVIC.
